Martin Dymek

Martin Dymek - Regional Head North America, CEO Straumann USA

Martin Dymek joined Straumann in 2009. His career spans almost thirty years and includes multiple senior managerial positions. He has a proven track record in business development and growth, M&As, and operational management.

After graduating from Cornell University, he began his career at the Japanese Shofu Dental Corporation as Marketing Director for the Americas. In 1990, he moved to Steri-Oss, where he held several management positions and became President of the company, which was subsequently acquired by Nobel Biocare in 1998. As President of Nobel Biocare USA Inc., he held full profit-and-loss accountability for the entire North and South American business until 2004. Martin Dymek joined our company from IOS Technologies, a developer of cutting-edge intra-oral scanning technologies where he was CEO.

Jim Frontero - President & Head of Sales Straumann USA

Jim Frontero has been President of Straumann USA since October 2006. Prior to joining Straumann in 2005 as Senior Vice President of Sales, Jim spent 15 years at the Boston Scientific Corporation. There, he took on increasing responsibilities in sales management - first in the Peripheral Vascular Division, then in the Oncology Division, and finally in the Endoscopy Division, where he became Director, Global Marketing & US Sales. During his time at Boston Scientific he also completed an Executive MBA program from Boston University. Jim began his career at SmithKline Beecham, after receiving a Bachelor of Science from Cornell University.

Jim is a highly experienced manager with an impressive track record. His career includes 19 years in sales and marketing in the medical device industry, giving him a thorough understanding of customer requirements and service.

Dr. Gerhard Bauer, President of Straumann Manufacturing Inc, and Sr. Vice President Global Production

Gerhard Bauer, who is a seasoned executive with broad experience in global operations, joins us from NextPharma Technologies, a specialist company based in the UK and serving the pharmaceutical and biotech industries. As Senior Vice President of Operations, he oversaw the company’s manufacturing operations in Belgium, France and the US.

Having trained as a pharmacist, he has worked in the healthcare industry since 1982. Prior to joining NextPharma, he spent 16 years at Bausch & Lomb Inc., a global leader in eye-care products including contact lenses, equipment and implants. There he held several positions in Operations with growing responsibility, culminating in his appointment as SVP Global Operations and Engineering. Previously he was with Ciba Vision Opthalmics and Beecham Wülfing in Germany.

Gerhard Bauer obtained his Master of Science degree in Pharmaceutics and his PhD in Pharmaceutical Chemistry from Munich University.

Dick Saporito

Dick Saporito - Vice President, Human Resources

Dick joined Straumann in January of 2007 as Vice President, Human Resources. He holds a BA and MBA in Human Resources Management from State University of New York. Dick spent sixteen years at Hadco Corporation where he rose from Manager, HR to Senior VP, HR & Administration. Following Hadco, Dick served as Vice President at Circuit Search for over five years, and later as VP of HR at Northeast Credit Union for three years before joining Straumann.

Dick is a results-driven HR executive with over twenty years of experience directing strategic national and global initiatives. Through various programs and initiatives, Dick has had a key hand in re-shaping the Human Resources department. He is a visionary change manager adept in employee relations, policy development, and process improvement. His improvements touch not only those in his department, but also the organization as a whole.

Jason Daly - VP, Legal Counsel

Jason Daly joined Straumann in February of 2005 and oversees the legal function and coordinating activities of the company’s outside counsel. He served as a law clerk for a United States District Judge for two years and then worked as an associate in the Corporate Department of Hale and Dorr’s Boston and Waltham offices. Before joining Straumann, he worked as an associate in the Litigation Department at Hinckley, Allen & Snyder in Providence, Rhode Island. Jason received his BA from the University of Rhode Island and his JD from the University of Pennsylvania Law School.

Peter Riddell

Peter Riddell - VP, CADCAM Business Operations

Peter Riddell joined Straumann USA in 2003, serving as Director of Marketing before his promotion to Vice President of Marketing in 2006.

After graduating from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, Peter began his career as a Territory Manager at General Electric. He later joined Johnson and Johnson Orthopedics, where he achieved great success in the sales field and was promoted from Territory Manager to Regional Sales Manager, and finally to Product Director, Bracing during his eight-year tenure with the company. In 1999, Peter joined Tyco Healthcare as Director of Marketing, Wound Care before joining Straumann. Peter continues to use his extensive background in sales to understand the marketplace and identify customer needs as new Straumann products enter the US market.

Douglas Fogg

Douglas Fogg - Vice President, Operations

Douglas graduated from Northeastern University in Boston, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. His 20 years of experience have been spent in the medical device industry with a focus on design, manufacturing, and regulatory. To date, Douglas is listed as the inventor of 11 patents in the medical device area.

Before joining Straumann in June 2004 as Director of Production, Douglas worked for Smith & Nephew Dyonics, D&R Products, Onyx Medical, and Medtronic, where he gained his extensive experience through several managerial positions in designing, engineering, business development and production management.

During his tenure at Straumann, Douglas has built the new production team of Straumann Manufacturing Inc. from 2 employees to its present 100 employees. He was promoted to his current position in October 2007.

Rene Garo

Rene Garo - CFO

Rene Garo joined Institut Straumann AG in 2007 as Head of Internal Audit, where he successfully formed Straumann’s Internal Audit department. He began his career at PricewaterhouseCoopers in Switzerland and Brazil, where he spent in total 12 years in auditing and business advisory services. Following his time at PricewaterhouseCoopers, Rene spent three years with Hilti AG in the Principality of Liechtenstein as a project manager for the rollout of a new ERP system in various countries, and another three years in Italy as the CFO of the local Hilti subsidiary. Hilti is a global partner for construction professionals and provides technologically leading products and systems to increase the productivity of construction professionals.

Currently, Rene serves as the CFO at Straumann USA, LLC, bringing years of experience and an extensive financial background to the organization. His dedication to financial responsibility and stability is essential for Straumann’s sustainable, profitable growth, thus securing future success.

Rene holds a MBA degree from Rochester (NY) University as well as the University of Bern and is a Certified Public Accountant.
